This hand-cut, hand-printed linoleum print features a tangled weave of iris leaves and columbine flowers. It is lovingly printed and hand burnished with a wooden spoon onto off-white Rieves Lightweight paper. It measures 16x20 inches, and has four deckled edges. The print itself is inspired by the master of pattern, William Morris. This design is an homage to his memorizing interior design patterns, as well and the Arts and Crafts Movement.
Due to the nature of hand-inking and hand-printing, small variations are apart of the process. But these imperfections are an important part of seeing the artist’s hand in the work, and embracing the fact that the art was made by a human artist, not printed from a machine.
